Read:
Deborah and Barak led God’s people against their enemies, and Jael killed Sisera. Israel has been delivered! Now what?
Now, they worship. Obviously in biblical times, their style of music was different from what we have today. What we see in many of the psalms is that they worshipped God by remembering the great things he had done for them. Deborah and Barak sang a song to praise the LORD. This is the covenant-keeping name for God (for more insight into the names of God, check out this reading plan). God keeps his promises.
God promised to lead Israel out of Egypt, and he did it. He promised to give them a land of their own, and he did it. He promised Barak that he would give Barak, and Israel, success against their enemies, and he did. He promised Israel there would be a savior, a Messiah, to save them from their sins, and he did it, when he sent his son Jesus to die on a cross. He promised you forgiveness if you accept it through faith. Will you do that today?
Let’s worship God together, remembering what he has done!
Prayer: Dear God, you always do what you say you will do! Thank you for sending Jesus to die in my place. I worship you. Amen.
