We like to plan ahead, to have a safety net, a backup for the backup. But Jesus calls us to ask for what we need today—not next week, not someday, just today.
When the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, God gave them enough to eat for each day. If they tried to hoard it, it spoiled. The miracle wasn’t in the stockpile — it was in the rhythm of daily trust.
God provides for you the same way. He meets you right where you are, giving what you need each day as you walk with him. He doesn’t want you to ignore the future. He wants to walk with you in the present so you learn to return to him again and again.
Reflect: Where have you been trying to control instead of trusting God?
Pray: God, thank you for how you’ve provided in the past. Show me where I’ve stopped depending on you. I often try to manage everything myself instead of asking for your help. Today, I ask for what I need today. Teach me to come to you daily and trust that you will be faithful. Amen.
