David and his men have made a home for themselves behind enemy lines, living with the Philistines. Surprisingly, it worked for them—at least for a while.
The Philistines and Israelites are about to go toe to toe in battle, and in an unexpected twist the future king of Israel finds himself facing the possibility of having to fight against his own countrymen. Essentially, he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place.
But God worked things out to remove David and his men from danger. Even though he had made himself useful behind enemy lines, the Philistine commanders didn’t trust that David wouldn’t turn against them in the heat of battle. So, they send he and his men packing.
What’s even more impressive was the impression David left on his enemies before he left. Achish, one of David’s adversaries said, “As far as I’m concerned, you’re as perfect as an angel of God.”
In situations where you're worried about compromising your values, take a note from David—keep your integrity and wait on God. He has a knack for bringing things together in the nick of time. It’s one of his specialties.
