If you really want to know what you’re made of, wait until things get hard. When pressure intensifies, what’s truly inside you is revealed.
Under unrelenting hardship, David stood out as a man of integrity—someone who walked closely with the Lord. Driven from his home, separated from his family, and forced to flee the very throne he was supposed to take, David had every reason to get upset and retaliate. But he didn’t. He chose integrity under pressure.
Psalm 15 shows us what that integrity looked like: living blamelessly, speaking truth from the heart, keeping his word even when it hurt, refusing to let pressure corrupt his character. These were the commands God gave David, and he obeyed—not because he wanted to earn brownie points with God, but because he knew any other response would knock him off balance. He honored God and pursued a genuine, close relationship with him.
So today, don’t only pray for relief from the pressure. Pray for integrity—and a deeper relationship with God—within it.
