As much as we might want one, we don’t get a timeline for Jesus’ return. Instead, we're given an assignment: stay awake. Be alert. Live like today matters—because it does. The awareness that Jesus is coming back should change how we walk through ordinary Tuesday afternoons as much as it shapes our hope for the future.
What does that look like? Taking the gospel seriously enough to share it. Investing in people over things, in the eternal over the temporary. Holding your plans loosely because you know who holds history. Refusing to let cynicism or fear have the last word, because you've read the last chapter and you know how it ends.
The armor described in this verse—faith, love, and the confidence of our salvation—isn't something to hide in. It's meant to shield you as you move forward. You were made for this moment in history. The same Jesus who is coming back is the one walking with you right now. Live with urgency. Live with hope. Live like he's coming soon—because he is.
Reflect: What’s one concrete way you want to live differently in light of Jesus' return? Write it down. Share it with someone you trust. Let the hope of Jesus coming soon become the fuel for how you live today.
