“I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” That prayer is raw and direct. This father brings his faith and his doubt to Jesus at the same time. He doesn’t clean it up first.
You may assume doubt threatens the foundation of your faith. But it’s really silence, avoiding the hard questions, that creates the most distance between us and God. When you bury your doubts or pretend they aren’t there, you settle for a surface-level faith. When you bring them into the light, you give God the opportunity to meet you in them.
When you don’t understand, don’t step away. Ask for help. Doubt, when brought to God honestly, can deepen your faith. It forces you to wrestle, to seek, and to trust God beyond easy answers.

Pray: God, search me and show me what I’ve been afraid to admit. I believe—and I also have questions. I don’t want to hide them from you. Meet me in my questions and lead me into a deeper, steadier faith. Amen.
